We are pleased to announce that the next of our Learn to Row courses will begin on Sat 1 October 2011. The course will run for six weeks and comprise 10 water sessions. The programme is being run with grateful assistance from British Rowing and Sportivate.
Our Learn to Row course is designed for those who have never rowed before, ie. complete beginners. If you have rowed before and would like to find out more about joining the club, please contact the men’s or women’s squad captain.
Over 10 sessions you’ll learn the basics of the rowing stroke on the ergo (aka ‘rowing maching’) and in a sweep-oar rowing boat (that is one in which you’ll have one oar each). As a temporary club member you’ll also be able to use our extensive training facilities and attend circuit-training sessions
The course costs just £75, plus the club’s joining fee of £25. This fee includes the price of a British Rowing silver membership (see www.britishrowing.org/membership/types). If you decide to stay on at the club as a rowing member after the course (and we hope you will!) then monthly membership starts at just £22.
The boathouse will be open from 2–4pm on Sat 1 October for you to come and meet the coaches and see our training facilities. After that sessions will be on Saturday afternoons from 2:30pm.
If you’d like to register for the October 2011 Learn to Row course, please email the Club Captain at ian@ianfarrell.org
